This is a fun party anyone can put on

Over view

When I was turning 11 I decided to have a Minecraft themed birthday party.
It was a sleepover that took you into the world of Minecraft.
Everyone had a good time and people commented for a while about how much they loved it.

What we did

Sword craft

We started the party with a simple craft.
We got blank white swords from Oriental Trading and used little paper squares to decorate,
and make them look like Minecraft swords.

Food Scavenger Hunt!

Next we went on a scavenger hunt for tickets we could turn in for food.
We took jewelry boxes and taped a cow or pig on the outside. You opened it up and found a picture of raw beef or pork.
You could than bring it to the furnace and go get a hamburger or hot dog. We also had square foods like cubed cheese for dinner.
Along with that we had other foods that resembled Minecraft items. We had pretzels for sticks, sweetish fish for the fish in Minecraft, and much more.
We made food cards with the picture of the Minecraft item and the name of that item on Minecraft.

Creeper craft and MINE!

After dinner we headed to the table to work on our creeper melts.
We took beads and made them into a shape of a creeper. Than we put them in the oven.
While people were making the crafts we took people in pairs into "the mine" that we had made in our garage.
Kids brought their swords and another supply of their choice we had on the table.
On the table we had merchandise we had bought before we even planed the party like Minecraft torch pick axe, etc.

If kids had any merchandise they could bring it to the party. When kids entered the garage they went into the wagon we had decorated like a mine cart.
We had taped tracks for the cart to go on. In the cart we put everyone's mine craft stuffed animals. (we had a creeper pic, and mooshroom!)
The garage was dark except for candles, and the ores we will discuss later. After my dad pushed us a few times in the cart (one at a time)
We went with the torch under a table and into the mine. In the mine there were different types of blocks ranging from gravel to diamonds.
We made these out of tissue boxes with taped pictures onto them. We put candles in them and scattered them throughout the garage in tents and other things we set up.
Of coarse our garage is a mess so we used black trash bags to cover up our mess and make sure kids didn't go in messy areas.
When you got three ores you came out and saw what they were.
The goal was to get the best ores even though you couldn't see what they were. When kids were done they hid the ores and the next person entered the mine.
Next kids came out of the garage and grabbed the candy that matched an ore.
(Blue Jolly Ranchers for diamonds, Gold chocolate bars for gold, red Jolly Rancher for Redstone etc.)
When everyone was done some kids went for a second turn and everyone loved it.

Cake, Presents, and Fun!

We had a great cake, brownie with green frosting like minecraft grass blocks, and put minecraft figures on top.
We then oppend presents, played minecraft while watching a movie, and went to bed.

Good Morning!

In the morning we didn't do much.
We basically chilled, ate pancakes for breakfast and wished the guest on their way,
after giving them a green bag with a creeper face with all of their goodies from the party.
This was a party to remember.

Planning

The guest list

This party works best for around 10 guest.
Make sure to invite the friends you like playing Minecraft with, but don't worry about weather your friends have Mine craft or not,
they will love it either way.

Invitations

The guest should know the theme of the party before they arrive. Use the green and black color scheme.
We used evite but you can also do the classic handwritten or print out card. Make sure you tell the guest to bring all the Minecraft stuff they have,
including a device if the have pocket edition. Also tell them if dinner will be served, and if they should bring any sleepover gear etc.
If you are a parent who doesn't play Minecraft, look up some Minecraft terms to use in the invite to get guest excited.
Also include an RSVP date and remind guest to RSVP so you know how many people are coming, this is very important.
Finally, just wait for guest ot RSVP!

Decorations!

If guest's parents were the only one to read the invite, the kid should know it's a Minecraft party right when they walk in!
Flood the floors with green and black balloons, and white and pink balloons with sheep and pig faces on them.
Next put small pieces of white tape on the windows to make them look like Minecraft windows.
If you don't know what this looks like, ask your kid to show you. Next decorate the room your kids are sleeping in as a Minecraft house.
Add a crafting table by taking a box and taping pictures of different views of a crafting table on each side,
or buy taping white paper and drawing one yourself. On the wall add a cute creeper made of square green and black paper plates.

Next start working on the mine in your garage.
Simply take a small tissue box, print out six pictures of the same ore,
than tape them onto the sides of the box. Inside put a battery operated candle.
We used candles that flashed different colors but you can use whatever you would like.

Next add garbage bags where your boundaries will be (rope off areas where cars or storage are).
Cover any shelves showing. For a nice entrance into the mine after cart ride, place down a pad under a table for guest to crawl through and enter the mine.

For the mine cart, take an old wagon, and tape black and a few white pieces of paper to the sides,
or print multiple copies of pictures of mine carts and crop them so that the wheel aren't showing and the design takes up the whole page.
Tape these to the sides of the wagon for a mine cart! On the floor tape two long pieces of beige masking tape.
Make horizontal lines across them in blue painters tape. It's a cute track for you cart.
